About the event

Description:

Climate Designers Chicago and the Climate Action Museum invite participants into Ripple Effects Mapping (REM), an asset-oriented participatory practice that brings to light the planned and unplanned consequences of an action, network, or collaboration, while building trust and connection among participants.

Rather than starting from what is broken, REM starts from what is working. Using the “but for” principle, participants share a story of a positive change they experienced or witnessed related to trees, shade, or heat on their block, the kind of change that would not have happened but for that specific action.

Participants pair up to interview each other about that change, then come together as a full group for group storytelling, building a shared ripple map that traces branch by branch how that single action rippled into further effects. The session closes with the group beholding the finished map together and reflecting on the patterns that emerge.
