Are you inspired by a climate advocate who you think deserves recognition?

The Climate Action Museum (CAM) is proud to host our fourth annual Climate Action Hero Awards on April 15th, 2026. These awards celebrate individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership in climate mitigation, greenhouse gas reduction, and decarbonization in the Chicago region.

The Climate Action Hero Awards advance CAM’s mission in two ways: 

1. By drawing attention to truly outstanding achievements in climate planning and/or actions we will “raise the bar” regionally. 

2. The recognition of best practices will encourage others in the region to follow suit. 

Awardees will be chosen by the Climate Action Museum Board of Directors based on accomplishments in one or more of the Award Categories listed below.

Award Categories:

Champion
An individual who through individual action or organizing larger programs, policies, or legislation have advanced CAM’s mission. 

Education 
Any educational institution that has created or promoted specific mission-focused programs or projects.

Government & Legislation
Municipal, county and state governments or agencies initiating mission-focused programs or projects.

Business 
A business of any type initiating mission-focused programs or projects.

Hazel M. Johnson Environmental Justice 
Any organization or individual incorporating the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies. 

Climate Tech 
New products or technologies, or new ways of using existing technologies, that further CAM’s mission.

Food and Agriculture 
Any individual or group whose food-related services or products or whose innovative agricultural practices advance CAM’s mission.
