Do Your Part
The Chicago Climate Action Museum implores everyone to “Do Your Part”. Adapting to, mitigating, and surviving the climate change crisis requires contributions from presidents, governors, homeowners, builders, regional planning organizations, and so many others.

Governors
Require fossil-free appliances in new construction
Work with adjacent states' governors to transition their power plants, because states share electrical grids
Homeowners
Create an electrification plan and an electric savings account. Do your research today so when an appliance fails you already know which model you can replace it with. For example, replace an AC or a furnace with a heat pump, which does the job of both (and works in place of or addition to).
Get started: Check RewiringAmerica.org, then look for the Energy Star label (that indicates cost effectiveness), rebates, and eligibility for an Inflation Reduction Act tax credit - no gas appliance will have any of these."
If you haven't replaced your lawn with a rain garden, keep the noise and pollution down by using battery-powered lawn care equipment
