Climate Storytelling - How to Weave Powerful Narratives Around Change

RSVP HERE! Tickets are Pay What You Can, spots are limited, RSVP today!

Join Dr Karen Lemke, PDC from Regenerate Milwaukee for a hybrid workshop on climate storytelling. Stories are what our brain uses to form memories of the past and expectations for the future. Learn how you can use this valuable skill in your advocacy efforts.

Before this meeting, reflect on something you've been reading or read before (ideally climate-related, but it doesn't have to be)! In this workshop, we will work in groups to discuss writing that has been influential to us and work together to craft new narratives.

This meeting is in-person, but if you would like to join virtually please RSVP for the meeting link.

Life Reimagined Game Night with the Chicago Donut Economics Coalition

RSVP HERE! This is a pay what you can event, spots are limited, RSVP today!

What future do we want for Chicago — and how do we get there?

Come join the Chicagoland Donut Economics Group for a night of connection, imagination, and play as we dive into LIFE Reimagined, the cooperative board game from the Doughnut Economics Action Lab.

Inspired by the classic Game of Life, LIFE Reimagined flips the script: instead of racing to accumulate the most wealth, players work together to create the most meaningful change — building a world of social and climate justice without burning out along the way. Think storytelling, strategy, and solidarity around a game board.

But this isn't just game night. After we play, we'll gather to retell "Our Story" — the collective narrative that emerges from the game — and use it as a springboard to channel our hopes (and our anxieties) into real-world action. We'll explore what a Doughnut Economy could look like for Chicago, and how we can support the grassroots movements already working to get us there, with the urgency the climate clock demands.

Whether you're a seasoned systems-thinker or just Doughnut-curious, all you need to bring is yourself and your imagination.

Program description:

The increasing climate crisis is substantially impacting mental health, causing climate anxiety, depressive symptoms, and ecological grief. While maintaining our emotional wellness is difficult in the face of an escalating crisis, doing so is imperative for both our own well-being as well as for our ability to take effective action. In this workshop, climate-aware therapist Marilee Feldman will outline how our cultural response to the crisis is impacting us, discuss the symptoms of climate anxiety and ecological distress, and outline a pathway to climate resilience. The presentation will be followed by professionally facilitated  small group discussions.

Speaker Bio:

Marilee Feldman, LCPC, is Illinois Regional Co-Coordinator for Climate Psychology Alliance, a group of mental health professionals working to educate the public and mental health professionals about the impact of the climate crisis on mental health. She is the Founder of Life Counseling Institute, a worker-owned private practice co-op located in Willowbrook and Park Ridge.

Group facilitators:

Libby Bachhuber, LCSW, provides psychoanalytic psychotherapy and supervision through her independent practice in Chicago.  She is a member of the regional team for the Climate Psychology Alliance, and has facilitated reflective processes on collective concerns with a range of groups, including activists, elementary school teachers, and college students.

Eric Bjorlin, LCSW, is a psychotherapist based in Chicago. He is a member of the regional team for the Climate Psychology Alliance and has facilitated groups of all shapes and sizes as a camp counselor, service learning facilitator, anti-racism trainer, and therapist
